Collaborative workflows

We understand that our clients value great design. That’s why we collaborate with you and your team at every stage of the process, ensuring that your vision and goals are achieved.

Visual processes

Even with a robust discovery phase, it can be difficult to visualise the finished product. We keep you informed, creating prototypes which help you understand what your finished project will look like.

Designs that delight

When it comes to UX & UI, we skillfully combine our creative and technical capabilities to build websites and digital products that delight your users and compel them to take the right actions.

Great web design IS important

Your website plays a key part in elevating your credibility and professionalism, and great web design is key to the process. A well-designed website not only looks incredible but it should be created with your clients and prospects in mind. This means a great user experience that is intuitive, easy to navigate, and encourages your users to stick around and find out more.

But more than this, your website should be designed by a team that will take the time to actively understand your needs and how your users behave. This involves making it relevant, ensuring it’s optimised for a range of devices and making sure it is accessible.

Web design at webdna

Our web design service  covers UX and UI design, wireframes, prototyping and user journeys, right through to high-fidelity product designs. As bold and broad as our design capabilities are, we keep our processes straightforward, clear and jargon-free. We begin by taking you through a thorough project kick-off and a well mapped out discovery process. The goal here is to fully understand your objectives and, more importantly, what matters to you.

We talk to all key stakeholders. This gives us a chance to understand all of the different pain points you’ve been experiencing up until now and make sure we’re meeting everybody’s needs. So don’t be surprised if we challenge your assumptions, politely of course. It’s all part of our holistic approach to getting to the bottom of your business allowing us to create the best possible design that not only looks incredible, but will achieve your desired results. A typical web design project could look like this:

The process:

  • A workshop to understand your organisational goals
  • The creation of a site-map, information architecture (IA) and user-journeys
  • Where required, wireframes
  • Presenting a design direction
  • Design development, creating visual designs

webdna: where UX and UI meet brilliant web design

We understand our competitors and we know that there are some highly skilled web designers out there, but what sets us apart is our ability to understand the intricacies of great user experience (UX) and user interface design (UI). We excel at this because we take a human-centred approach, creating functional designs that work hard for your client at every touchpoint.

We’ll focus on your website's performance, combining our broad creative capabilities with our award-winning development skills. We’ll consider important factors such as information architecture, content structure and usability. And through doing so we design websites that compel your users to take the right actions, placing beautifully designed user interface alongside expert web development.

Creating your visual design

As we begin to develop your design, we’ll introduce visual tools such as wireframes and prototyping so that you can really begin to see things start to take shape and have peace of mind that your goals are being met. Wireframes are essentially a blueprint that bridges technical elements such as UX with a visual layout. They're more of a skeletal framework, to help you understand flow and make sure we’re covering everything. Don’t be alarmed, they’re not a reflection of your finished design, the visual identity comes later.

Prototypes are another great way to check in with you and other key stakeholders to make sure we’re all still on the same page and things are going in the right direction. At this stage, we’ll start to show you a breakdown of the different components we’re using. This could include typographic scale, colour palette and other global elements. We’ll also prototype the relevant user journeys to give you a better idea of how the UX feels across the design.

Designed for web accessibility

Accessibility is central to web design at webdna. All of our projects follow best practices in regards to contrast ratios and type size ensuring designs meet WCAG Level AA conformance as standard. We have worked on a variety of projects and across several industries to meet the requirements of our clients, whatever they may be.

Working closely with them, we create designs that are inclusive, accessible and meet a diverse range of needs. And, because our designs are frequently created for our own in-house Craft CMS development team, our designers also have a deep understanding of how a design can translate to front-end development and be made fully accessible. This makes for a seamless experience that really nails the brief.
